Are you a parent of a young child and you're trying to figure out where to start with reading? Does your child have difficulty identifying rhyming words? Can your child identify the sounds of the alphabet?
Are you an educator to students in grades Pre-K through 2nd who are struggling with identifying sounds, onset and rime, rhyming words, or syllabication?
If you answered yes, this program is for you.
Phonemic awareness is important because it allows a child to hear, think about, and manipulate individual sounds. It is the foundation for reading and is the first area of reading.
Children who master phonemic awareness improve spelling, reading, and comprehension.
Participants in this course will:
- Learn research-based strategies to implement with your child/student.
- Learn how to teach phonemic awareness through rhythm and rhyme.
- Review the importance of phonological awareness in reading instruction.
- Become familiar with assessments to administer to your child/student in the area of phonemic awareness.
This course is for educators and parents. It is prerecorded.
